Surveillance for Zika virus infection, microcephaly and Guillain-Barré syndrome

چکیده
Zika virus transmission is primarily vector-borne, mainly via Aedes mosquitoes. The virus can also be found in various body fluids and transmission by sexual contact has also been reported. Aedes aegypti, the principal vector, is found in tropical and subtropical climates and adapts well to urban areas, living in and around human habitations. The areas affected by Zika virus lie within areas affected by dengue and chikungunya, which are also transmitted by Aedes mosquitos. Zika virus disease is usually mild with non-specific signs and symptoms: fever, rash, conjunctivitis, muscle and joint pain.

متن کاملThe association of Guillain-Barré syndrome with Zika virus infection
15 The association of Guillain-Barré syndrome with Zika virus infection raises suspicion of 16 autoimmunity in the pathogenesis of Zika associated disease. Using computational analysis to 17 identify predicted B and T cell epitopes, we assessed whether antibodies elicited by B cell 18 epitopes in Zika virus may also target B cell epitopes in the human proteome. We detected amino 19 acid motifs ...

Zika virus, a mosquito-borne flavivirus that can cause rash with fever, emerged in the Region of the Americas on Easter Island, Chile, in 2014 and in northeast Brazil in 2015 (1). In response, in May 2015, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), which serves as the Regional Office of the Americas for the World Health Organization (WHO), issued recommendations to enhance surveillance for Zi...
متن کاملZika virus infection as a cause of congenital brain abnormalities and Guillain-Barré syndrome: From systematic review to living
The Zika virus (ZIKV) outbreak in the Americas has caused Background. international concern due to neurological sequelae linked to the infection, such as microcephaly and Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). The World Health Organization stated that there is “sufficient evidence to conclude that Zika virus is a cause of congenital abnormalities and is a trigger of GBS”. This conclusion was based on a...
